A gearbox temperature value is most useful when its context is known. A reading taken after an overnight standstill answers a different question from one taken after a long journey. Keep that context with a P0711 report.
The code’s scope
Autel’s published code list places P0711 in plausibility monitoring of the transmission-fluid temperature sensor circuit. See the manufacturer reference, printed page 49. It does not identify the physical sensor arrangement for every gearbox.
What owners can contribute
Describe whether the warning appears from cold, after motorway use or in slow traffic. State whether gear selection changes at the same time. Include recent fluid service, transmission repairs and any cooler or wiring work in chronological order.
Do not add fluid on the basis of a temperature code alone. The correct level-checking procedure and fluid specification depend on the transmission and should be handled using the vehicle instructions.
What a garage report should preserve
Provide the gearbox identification, complete scan and recorded temperature trend, with units and timestamps. If the displayed value jumps or stays fixed, include the actual recording rather than only describing it. Note whether the code is current or historical.
A removed TCU may not reproduce an intermittent vehicle-side condition. Ask AXION to review the enquiry before removing the unit. We will discuss whether further on-vehicle testing or a supported postal assessment is appropriate.
