Vehicle make is the starting point
Two cars with the same badge can use different controllers, hardware revisions and software. Before discussing an ECU repair, TCU assessment or donor transfer, we need the model year, engine, gearbox and complete module label. The brand groups below help you prepare an enquiry; they are not a promise that every module or model is supported.
Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT & Škoda
Include the full vehicle scan, engine and gearbox identification, and the controller’s complete part number with its suffix. For a DSG enquiry, distinguish a stored transmission fault from a confirmed electronic failure.
BMW & MINI
Send the exact controller identification shown on the label or diagnostic report, plus the vehicle and powertrain details. If you have a replacement unit, provide both labels and describe any coding or programming already attempted.
Mercedes-Benz & Smart
Identify whether the concern is engine, transmission, body or starting authorisation. Include the complete scan and the sequence of warning messages; the badge alone does not establish donor compatibility.
Ford
Record the engine and transmission type as well as the model. Communication or processor codes need the identity of the module reporting them and the vehicle-specific diagnostic procedure.
Vauxhall & Opel
Explain whether the original controller communicates and whether another unit has been fitted. Send both labels for a replacement enquiry and retain the original module until compatibility is discussed.
Peugeot, Citroën & DS
For body-control or starting issues, provide a complete scan and describe the affected functions. Keep the original unit and explain any water damage, battery event or previous replacement.
Renault, Dacia & Nissan
Provide the year, engine, gearbox and exact fault wording. Include the reporting controller and code suffixes rather than sending only a dashboard photograph.
Jaguar, Land Rover & Volvo
Describe the fault conditions and any recent battery, wiring or software work. If several modules show faults, send the full scan so the enquiry covers the vehicle system rather than one isolated code.
Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Mazda, Hyundai & Kia
State whether the vehicle is petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric. Discuss the precise component before removing or sending anything; high-voltage equipment needs a separate agreed route.
Other makes and commercial vehicles
For Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Porsche, Tesla, MG, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Subaru, commercial vans or a make not listed above, send the full identification first. We will discuss the actual unit and job scope before agreeing an assessment. A directory listing is not a manufacturer approval, dealership connection or all-model coverage claim.
Vehicle brand versus ECU manufacturer
The name on the controller may differ from the vehicle badge. Photograph every label showing supplier, vehicle part number, hardware and software references. Do not choose a donor only because its casing or plugs look similar.
