A brake-assistance warning needs prompt attention. If braking feels abnormal or the vehicle instructs you to stop, stop safely and arrange professional assistance. Do not use a normal road journey as a diagnostic test.
Not every braking system uses the same arrangement
HELLA explains that electric vacuum pumps can provide additional or alternative vacuum for pneumatic brake assistance, including relevant hybrid and electric applications. Their presence and control arrangement must be established for the exact vehicle. An electrically assisted braking system should not automatically be described as a vacuum-pump system.
Record the actual complaint
Include the warning text, whether the pedal feel changed and when the symptom first appeared. Tell the workshop about recent brake, electrical or low-voltage battery work. Preserve the full scan and the reporting controller names.
Ask the technician to distinguish what has been tested from what is only suspected. A pump, its supply or control arrangement and the wider braking system need the correct vehicle-specific diagnostic process. Hearing a pump run, or not hearing it, is not a complete diagnosis.
Electronics assessment within a braking-system repair
If a controller or electrical component is identified for further assessment, send the complete part number and workshop report first. Explain whether the vehicle remains immobile and which other checks are pending.
