A diagnostic display showing a pump request is not the same as confirming the required coolant movement. The command, electrical operation and cooling-system result are separate parts of an assessment. A pump sound alone may not establish adequate circulation.
Ask what was measured
Keep the requested operating state, any feedback and the temperature observations used by the workshop. Record recent coolant work, replacement parts and whether the correct service procedure was followed. The relevant checks depend on the pump and vehicle design.
Do not run a vehicle with overheating warnings to test a theory, and do not open a hot cooling circuit. If the system includes high-voltage equipment, specialist precautions also apply. A module repair enquiry should include the vehicle-side evidence rather than only a pump-related code. Ask the technician to explain whether the uncertainty concerns the control signal, the pump’s operation or the cooling circuit’s ability to do its job.
