Successful demisting does not prove the entire climate panel is healthy, but it narrows the complaint compared with total system failure. Separate missing illumination, blank display and unresponsive controls in the report.
Identify which functions remain available
Record whether physical buttons, touchscreen controls and steering-wheel shortcuts work. Check ordinary display brightness settings. Mention dashboard repairs, software updates or low-voltage events before the fault.
Do not dismantle trim or replace a climate controller solely because its screen is dark. The workshop needs to identify the display and control architecture. If visibility cannot be maintained, do not continue driving. A clear list of working and failed functions helps distinguish a local display issue from loss of the actual heating or ventilation control.
