A regeneration request can be refused because required conditions are not met. The refusal message and associated faults are more useful than repeatedly commanding the routine.
Identify the stated reason
Save the full scan and tool message. Ask the workshop which prerequisite is missing and whether the vehicle can safely undergo the intended procedure. A high displayed soot estimate does not establish that forcing regeneration is appropriate.
Do not attempt regeneration in an unsuitable environment or bypass a blocking condition. The underlying engine or sensing issue may need repair first. A clear assessment should distinguish the filter’s condition from the reason the control system will not carry out a requested process, then explain the suitable verification and service route.
