Comparing before and after dyno reports for a calibration enquiry

Two headline power figures do not tell the whole story of a calibration change. If you already have before-and-after dyno reports, keep the complete sheets and the details of the test rather than sending a cropped maximum figure.

Consistency makes a comparison useful

Dyno manufacturer SuperFlow highlights test location, engine temperature, acceleration rate and equipment calibration among the factors that affect repeatability. Its guidance supports keeping conditions consistent when comparing results. A difference between two reports is not automatically a measured gain from the software change alone.

The report should make clear what was measured, the units and the test conditions. If something is missing, ask the testing provider rather than inventing a conversion or assuming the two figures use the same basis.

What to send with the graphs

Include the vehicle specification, report dates, installed file version for each run and a list of hardware changes between tests. Keep the test provider’s notes and any warnings or interruptions. State whether both reports were produced on the same equipment under a comparable process.

If only an estimated figure is available, label it as an estimate. A number from a sales listing or another car is not a baseline measurement for your vehicle.

Use the reports to ask a clear question

You might want an existing calibration reviewed, an unexpected result explained or advice on what further information is needed. Say which question matters. A review of supplied reports is different from booking a new test, and the proposed service should state which work is included.

AXION can consider a calibration or file-support enquiry with the available evidence. If you need a new dyno session, confirm the testing provider, location and measurement scope before booking. Results depend on the actual vehicle and work.

If the vehicle has a warning or drivability problem, include that alongside the graph. Resolve the assessment route before further performance testing. The useful outcome is a clear record of the vehicle, the work and the evidence, rather than selecting whichever report shows the largest number.
