Steering assistance that changes mainly during slow manoeuvres needs its operating conditions documented. Low-speed steering places different demands on the system from steady driving, but the symptom alone does not identify the motor, control unit or power supply as the cause.
Describe the change accurately
State whether assistance is reduced in both directions, whether a warning appears and whether the condition changes after the vehicle rests. Include recent tyre, suspension, steering or battery work. A workshop will need to consider mechanical resistance as well as electrical information.
Do not repeatedly hold the steering against its stops to recreate the complaint. If control is unpredictable or the manual advises stopping, arrange recovery. Send any scan with its voltage and operating context rather than only a steering fault number. Ask the workshop what was measured during the actual heavy-steering condition and which parts of the system have been assessed.
