Auto Hold and the parking brake share some related functions on many vehicles, but successful manual parking-brake operation does not prove every requirement for Auto Hold is met. Read the exact display message and the operating conditions in the owner’s manual.
Record the missing condition
Note whether the engine or READY state was active, which warnings were present and whether the problem began after battery or brake work. Do not assume that a switch lamp proves the requested function is available. Include the complete scan if a garage has already checked it.
Continue to control the vehicle with the normal brake as instructed; never rely on a function showing unavailable status. A technician should distinguish a normal operating restriction from a recorded fault using model-specific information. Describe whether the feature never engages, releases unexpectedly or works only intermittently. Those are different complaints and should not all be labelled a failed parking-brake module.
