Remote-button locking, door-handle keyless entry and starting are separate observations. If one works while another fails, include that distinction in your enquiry instead of describing the entire key as “dead”. Compare only with an original spare key you are authorised to use.
What the component does
HELLA explains that passive entry/go adds functions beyond a button-operated remote key. The vehicle checks an authorised transmitter and uses equipment such as antennas and door-handle electronics to support access and starting. A problem at one door handle or with passive detection therefore needs system-specific investigation; it does not automatically mean that the key or body module must be replaced.
Information that helps an assessment
Record which doors respond, whether the remote buttons work, whether the car starts normally and whether the original spare behaves differently. Include the exact dashboard message, recent key-battery replacement and any water damage or door work. Provide vehicle details and proof of authorised ownership through the normal enquiry process; do not email passwords, security PINs or digital-key access tokens.
Before ordering or removing a unit
A fault message identifies a system to investigate; it does not prove that its control unit needs replacement. Record the complete scan report and component identification before codes are cleared or parts are ordered. Repair suitability depends on the exact unit and the findings from diagnosis.
