A tailgate that opens from one normal control but not another provides a useful comparison. Record every method already tried: remote key, interior switch and exterior handle. State whether the tailgate is manually operated or powered.
Identify what happens at the failed control
Does the switch feel damaged, does the latch click or is there no response? Note whether the vehicle must be unlocked first according to its normal operation. Settings and equipment versions differ, so confirm the expected behaviour in the handbook before labelling it a fault.
Include nearby symptoms
Rear camera, number-plate lighting, rear wiper or boot-open messages may be relevant if they changed at the same time. Report them without assuming that they share one failed wire. Mention tailgate repairs, accessory installations and any known water ingress.
