A vehicle can lock while still reporting an open door. Describe which door the display identifies and whether the message changes when that door is used normally. Do not assume that successful locking proves all latch signals are correct.
Note the related effects
Record whether interior lights stay on, the alarm behaves differently or the vehicle refuses another function. These effects should accompany the original complaint in the report. They may be related, but the workshop should establish that connection rather than replace several parts on suspicion.
Give the technician the right context
Mention recent latch, door, body or trim work. If a garage has read live data, ask it to retain the labelled door-status values and test conditions. A screenshot without the controller name can be misleading when several inputs have similar labels.
