An air-mass sensor warning does not automatically justify a new sensor or engine ECU. The useful starting point is the complete code and the operating conditions when it was recorded. Include recent intake, air-filter or engine-management work in the enquiry.
Circuit fault versus range or performance
P0100 concerns the mass or volume air-flow circuit. P0101 concerns its range or performance. Preserve the scan tool’s complete wording rather than shortening either code to “MAF broken”.

What the air-mass sensor contributes

This means a useful assessment asks both what the reading is and whether the associated circuit and installation have been checked. A generic internet value is not a substitute for the reference data matching the engine and operating conditions.
Information to save before another replacement
Send the make, model, engine identification and fuel type. Describe poor idle, loss of power, stalling or a warning without adding a presumed cause. Include the first occurrence and whether the concern began after intake work or installation of a replacement sensor.
If a workshop has logged live data, retain the units, engine speed and other test conditions. If someone unplugged a sensor during diagnosis, distinguish codes recorded during that test from the original fault. Include both original and replacement part numbers where available.
Electrical assessment and donor compatibility
A garage may need to assess the complete vehicle before a controller can be blamed. Start with vehicle electrical diagnostics. If an ECU replacement has already been suggested, use our module identification guide before purchasing a donor. Keep the original unit and test paperwork.
