DPF pressure circuit faults after replacing the pressure sensor

Fault-code directory · ECU and electrical assessment

If the particulate-filter pressure warning returns after a new sensor is fitted, preserve the new scan before clearing it. The pressure path, electrical supply, signal and any required setup still need to be checked. The replacement part is only one part of that chain.

These groups concern pressure-sensor A and B circuits, performance or signal behaviour where those circuits are fitted. Low, high and intermittent descriptions are electrical observations. A high electrical signal is not automatically proof of excessive exhaust back pressure, and an intermittent signal does not establish that the filter is blocked.

Evidence that helps narrow the fault

  • Confirm the sensor’s exact part number and hose connections. Reversed, split, obstructed or heat-damaged pressure hoses can make otherwise valid electrical readings misleading.
  • Compare the reading at the manufacturer’s specified reference condition with the response as operating conditions change. A fixed offset and a sudden dropout are different clues.
  • Check the reference supply, ground and signal at the appropriate points. If several sensors share a supply, investigate any related codes before attributing everything to the new pressure sensor.

Choosing the next repair step

The repair should address the demonstrated failure. That might be a hose, connector, supply circuit, sensor or a separately confirmed filter problem. ECU assessment becomes relevant when the external circuit has been checked and the evidence points to the input or supply inside the controller. Retain the old and new readings for comparison.

Should the filter be regenerated to clear a pressure circuit code?

A regeneration is not a repair for a broken signal circuit. Resolve unreliable measurement first, then assess whether regeneration is appropriate and safe for the filter’s actual condition.

Talk through the fault with AXION

Send the make, model, year, full scan report and a short description of when the fault happens. Include recent repairs or programming attempts. If you do not have a scan, describe the symptoms in your own words.

Workshop assessments are arranged by appointment in Didcot, Oxfordshire. UK-wide postal module testing and remote support are available for suitable work after compatibility and scope are agreed. Please contact us before removing or posting a module.
