EV & hybrid diagnostics and electronics repair

Charging will not start, the car will not enter READY, or a hybrid warning keeps returning? Tell us the vehicle details and exact message so we can discuss an assessment at our Didcot workshop.

A clear starting point for EV and hybrid faults

We can discuss faults involving charging, inverters, DC–DC converters and battery-management electronics. Send any scan report you already have and tell us what has been checked. We will confirm which work we can take on for your vehicle.

Type 2 charging cable connected to an electric vehicle
Type 2 charging connection. Include both the vehicle warning and the charge-point message when asking about a charging fault.

The right route may involve vehicle diagnosis, assessment of a particular component or referral for other work. Do not remove or send high-voltage components before arrangements have been agreed.

Information that helps us assess your enquiry

  • Make, model, year and whether the vehicle is fully electric or hybrid.
  • The exact dashboard message and diagnostic fault codes.
  • Whether the vehicle enters its ready state, drives and charges.
  • When the fault occurs and any charging equipment already tried.
  • Recent repairs, water damage, collision history or battery work.
  • Part numbers and photographs for a component already identified by your technician.

Battery-management and charging assessment

A battery warning, a charging interruption and a loss of READY can require different diagnostic routes. Our EV and hybrid BMS diagnostic assessment explains battery-management warnings, current-sensor concerns and battery-health reports. For a charging-specific problem, see onboard charger and charging diagnostics.

Send the full scan and say whether the vehicle drives and charges. We confirm the supported vehicle, assessment and transport arrangements first. The battery-management assessment does not include pack dismantling, cell replacement or battery supply.

Areas to discuss with the team

Charging concerns

Explain whether charging fails to start, stops unexpectedly or behaves differently on different charging equipment.

Power electronics

Include inverter, converter or drivetrain diagnostic information and the checks already completed.

Battery-management electronics

Provide the relevant scan report and component identification. An electronics enquiry does not automatically mean a complete battery-pack repair is available.

Arranging an assessment

Start through our contact form and include your location. Tell us whether the vehicle can travel safely or needs professional recovery. We will discuss the appropriate workshop or component-assessment route before a visit or shipment.

Can I post an EV battery?

Do not post batteries or high-voltage assemblies through the ordinary module service. Contact the team first to discuss the item and any appropriate transport arrangements.

Can I inspect high-voltage wiring myself?

High-voltage work requires appropriate training, equipment and vehicle-specific procedures. HSE explains the additional hazards involved in electric and hybrid vehicle repair. Do not treat this service page as repair instructions.

Can you quote from a warning message?

A message is useful background, but the diagnostic findings, vehicle and condition determine the scope and quotation. Send as much supporting information as you have.
