Hybrid battery temperature sensor codes with reduced performance

Fault-code directory · EV and hybrid diagnostic enquiries

Battery temperature information affects charge, discharge and thermal control. A warning may represent a genuine temperature concern or an unreliable measurement. That distinction matters before a battery is described as worn out or a cooling component is replaced.

Codes covered

P0A9B · P0A9C · P0A9D · P0A9E · P0A9F · P0AC5 · P0AC6 · P0AC7 · P0AC8 · P0AC9 · P0ACA · P0ACB · P0ACC

The listed groups concern battery-temperature sensing channels A, B and C. Different codes describe circuit, range or signal conditions. They do not provide a battery-capacity result. The physical locations and number of sensors depend on the battery design.

Evidence that helps narrow the fault

  • Record the full warning text, state of charge and whether the vehicle was charging, driving or parked. Include outdoor conditions and recent cooling-system work.
  • Have the temperature channels compared under known conditions. One implausible value suggests a different investigation from several channels rising together during a genuine thermal event.
  • Keep any additional battery or cooling codes. The relationship between the warnings can be more useful than an isolated temperature figure from a generic scanner.

Choosing the next repair step

A competent EV assessment should distinguish a sensor path, a monitoring unit and the actual thermal behaviour of the pack. A battery-health percentage alone cannot do that. If a red warning, smoke, unusual heat or damage is present, follow the vehicle’s emergency instructions and arrange appropriate assistance rather than continuing a test.

Can a temperature sensor code be cleared to restore normal charging?

Clearing it does not establish that safe temperature monitoring has returned. The cause and the relevant operating condition must be checked before normal use is assumed.

Talk through the fault with AXION

Send the make, model, year, full scan report and a short description of when the fault happens. Include recent repairs or programming attempts. If you do not have a scan, describe the symptoms in your own words.

Workshop assessments are arranged by appointment in Didcot, Oxfordshire. UK-wide postal module testing and remote support are available for suitable work after compatibility and scope are agreed. Please contact us before removing or posting a module.
