Fault-code directory · EV and hybrid diagnostic enquiries

Precharge is part of bringing the high-voltage system into operation in a controlled way. When the vehicle reports a precharge-contactor circuit fault, repeatedly trying to start it is not a diagnosis. Keep the warning and scan details so the failed stage can be identified.
Codes covered
P0AE4 · P0AE5 · P0AE6 · P0AE7
This group concerns the precharge contactor A control path and its reported electrical behaviour. It is distinct from simply finding a low battery state of charge. The complete manufacturer description and any related high-voltage codes are important because the implementation differs between vehicles.
Confirm the full description, suffix and reporting module for your vehicle. These are diagnostic starting points, not a parts replacement list.
Evidence that helps narrow the fault
- Record whether the warning appeared before charging, after charging, after repair or after a long period parked. Note any low-voltage battery concerns without assuming they explain the whole event.
- Preserve the whole-system scan, including contactor, interlock, isolation and supply information. A generic reader may show only a summary warning.
- Confirm the battery and controller identification before a repair or replacement enquiry. A removed component may not reproduce a system-level start-up fault on its own.
Choosing the next repair step
The assessment needs to separate the commanded control path, the contactor response and the wider high-voltage conditions. It is not safe to bridge a contactor or bypass an interlock to force the vehicle ready. Arrange an EV assessment or suitable recovery if the vehicle cannot operate normally.
Does the code prove that the contactor’s main contacts are welded?
No. A control-circuit report is not the same finding as a confirmed welded contact. The manufacturer’s diagnostic route establishes what has actually failed.
Talk through the fault with AXION
Send the make, model, year, full scan report and a short description of when the fault happens. Include recent repairs or programming attempts. If you do not have a scan, describe the symptoms in your own words.
Workshop assessments are arranged by appointment in Didcot, Oxfordshire. UK-wide postal module testing and remote support are available for suitable work after compatibility and scope are agreed. Please contact us before removing or posting a module.
