Plugging in a damaged car to see whether it accepts power is not a reliable way to assess collision safety. A successful session would not rule out mechanical damage, while a failed session could have several explanations.
How to approach the assessment
Let the responsible specialist decide when energising or charging the vehicle is appropriate. Preserve the last normal charging record instead. If the vehicle is hot, smoking or showing signs of an immediate hazard, move away and contact emergency services rather than continuing a repair enquiry.
Useful details to send
- Last normal charge before the collision.
- Whether charging was attempted afterwards.
- Impact location and warning messages already recorded.
Arrange the right assessment
This is enquiry guidance, not a high-voltage repair procedure. Do not open battery packs or work on high-voltage equipment. Agree the vehicle assessment and transport arrangements with the receiving workshop first.
Ask AXION about your repair or read our EV and hybrid assessment information. Workshop visits are by appointment in Didcot. Confirm suitability before posting any removed module.
