CAN logger filters can hide the message being investigated

A capture or display filter can exclude traffic that exists on the network. An empty result is therefore not always an absent vehicle message.

Interpreting the evidence

When one report sees a message and another does not, compare their channel selection, frame format and filters. Retain an unfiltered source recording where the authorised diagnostic setup allows it. Distinguish what was captured from what the software chose to display.

Keep this evidence

Send the filter settings and original file, not just a cropped list of selected identifiers.

A logger configuration issue does not justify replacing the transmitting module. Any broader recording should stay within the agreed diagnostic scope.

Speak to AXION

For CAN-bus and vehicle-network diagnostics, send your vehicle details and fault report. Workshop assessment is in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Suitable postal or remote work is confirmed before booking.
