UDS response 0x22 means prerequisites for the requested operation were not met. It is separate from UDS service identifier 0x22.

Interpreting the evidence

Check the manufacturer’s stated conditions for that exact function and compare them with the recorded vehicle state. A failed adaptation may need missing prerequisites addressed before any hardware decision. Do not assume which condition failed unless the tool or procedure identifies it.

Keep this evidence

Record the operation, accompanying messages and relevant vehicle state shown by the approved tool.

Never defeat an interlock to make the test run. If the prerequisites cannot be satisfied, investigate why or arrange specialist assessment.
