Confirm the unit and the fault first

An ABS or stability-control warning needs a clear diagnosis. Start your enquiry with the complete scan report and the symptoms rather than ordering a replacement module from a warning light alone. Tell us which checks your workshop has completed and why the control unit is suspected.

For ABS and ESP work, suitability must be confirmed for the specific unit and requested assessment before any part is sent. This page covers the electronic control-module enquiry; it is not a booking for a complete braking-system overhaul.

Information to include

• Vehicle make, model, year, registration and engine or powertrain.
• Clear photographs of the complete unit and every identification label.
• Manufacturer and vehicle-maker part numbers exactly as printed, including suffixes.
• The full diagnostic report, including code descriptions and the controller reporting each fault.
• Whether the problem is constant or intermittent and when it first appeared.
• Previous repairs, replacement parts, water ingress or coding attempts.

Original module or replacement unit?

If a replacement is being considered, send both labels before purchasing or fitting a donor. Explain whether the original controller communicates and whether it has already been opened or repaired. Hardware, software and installation requirements need to be reviewed for the actual vehicle; visual similarity does not establish the complete repair route.

Workshop diagnosis or postal assessment?

When the cause remains uncertain, discuss an appointment involving the complete vehicle or further checks with your workshop. A removed unit cannot reproduce every condition present on the vehicle. If postal assessment is suitable, we will confirm the exact item to send and the dispatch instructions.

Do not disconnect or send a complete hydraulic assembly on the assumption that it is required. Agree the scope first and have removal and refitting handled by an appropriately equipped workshop.

After assessment

The findings determine the next step and whether electronic repair, replacement-related work or further vehicle diagnosis is appropriate. Ask for the assessment scope, quotation and any installation or coding requirements before authorising work.

Braking and stability-control faults require appropriate vehicle checks before road use. The technician responsible for the vehicle should verify the braking system and complete the required installation procedures; a module assessment does not replace those checks.
