A magnetic wheel encoder damaged during bearing work

An ABS warning that starts after bearing work can arise from the encoder or its relationship with the sensor. Replacing the electronic module without checking that area risks leaving the original fault untouched.

How to narrow it down

Inspect the correct side, installation and condition using the vehicle and bearing instructions. Compare the wheel-speed signal through a complete rotation at a controlled speed. A repeating disturbance can help relate the fault to the rotating assembly instead of to a random communication event.

What to include with the fault report

Send the bearing brand and reference, affected corner and any saved waveform.

A visually clean bearing is not proof of a sound magnetic pattern. Diagnosis should distinguish encoder damage, fitment and the sensor circuit.
