A gateway is not simply a join between identical wires. It can connect systems using different communication technologies and apply rules to the information passed between them.
Identify the vehicle’s actual layout
NXP’s gateway overview illustrates this mixed-network role. The example does not establish the wiring or configuration of a particular vehicle. A technician needs its own network information to interpret missing modules.
For an enquiry, identify which controllers remain reachable and which disappear together. Do not bridge network segments to restore communication. A fault on one route and a gateway configuration issue can produce different evidence, so the diagnosis should explain the affected path rather than assume every communication warning means the gateway itself has failed.
