A fault linked to tailgate position can help identify a movement-dependent condition. It does not prove that the body controller is defective or that one visible wire is the complete cause.
Record all affected functions
Note whether the rear camera, number-plate lamps or release switch change at the same time. Include previous tailgate or harness work. Do not repeatedly bend wiring or pull protective sleeves apart without an appropriate inspection procedure.
A technician should assess the relevant circuits across the normal movement range and preserve evidence of intermittent failure. If required brake lamps do not operate correctly, arrange repair before road use. A clear position-related report is more useful than another code reset performed with the tailgate in the position where everything works.
