A diagnostic message can span several frames, while each frame has its own data length. Confusing those lengths can make a complete reply appear too short or too long.

What to check next

Inspect the transport’s announced payload and compare it with the reassembled message. Keep raw frames and decoded data together when reporting a tool issue. This is particularly useful when a log exporter includes addressing or padding bytes in its display.

Send the original capture and the exported version that appeared inconsistent.

A file or row length is not automatically the length of the vehicle’s diagnostic data. The logging format must be understood.
