An update completing successfully does not prove that every physical cause of an emissions warning has been repaired. Compare the original code and conditions with the new report.
Establish what the update addressed
Keep the software identification and the repairer’s reason for applying it. Was it a documented remedy for this vehicle and complaint, or part of another job? Record how long the vehicle operated before the warning returned.
The workshop should decide whether the same monitored condition persists or a different issue is present. Do not repeatedly reload software or disable the warning. Ask for the next test to be tied to evidence and for verification to include the relevant operating conditions, not only successful completion of the programming screen.
