Inverter temperature sensor codes with limited EV power

Fault-code directory · EV and hybrid diagnostic enquiries

Reduced EV power can be a protective response to temperature information. Before describing the inverter as overheated or defective, establish whether the reported temperature is credible. A signal fault and a real cooling problem lead to different investigations.

Codes covered

P0AED · P0AEE · P0AEF · P0AF0 · P0AF1 · P0AF2 · P0AF3 · P0AF4 · P0AF5 · P0AF6

These groups concern inverter-temperature sensing channels A and B. They include circuit, performance and signal conditions. A circuit-high description should not be treated as a direct temperature measurement, and the same numeric limit should not be applied across different inverter designs.

Evidence that helps narrow the fault

  • Record charge level, ambient conditions and whether the limitation followed rapid charging, sustained driving or a cold start. The sequence can help distinguish real heating from an implausible signal.
  • Have the temperature channels compared with the operating state and other thermal information. Sudden impossible changes deserve investigation of the measurement path.
  • Retain cooling and communication codes as well as inverter codes. Recent coolant or drive-unit work should be included in the repair history.

Choosing the next repair step

A thermal-system repair is justified by evidence of the thermal fault; an electronic repair requires evidence of the measurement or control failure. Neither should be inferred from the dashboard message alone. Do not open high-voltage power electronics or disconnect their cooling system as an owner-level diagnostic step.

Will replacing the coolant pump clear every inverter temperature code?

No. A pump cannot repair an invalid sensor signal, and a good sensor cannot fix inadequate cooling. The assessment needs to establish which condition is present.

Talk through the fault with AXION

Send the make, model, year, full scan report and a short description of when the fault happens. Include recent repairs or programming attempts. If you do not have a scan, describe the symptoms in your own words.

Workshop assessments are arranged by appointment in Didcot, Oxfordshire. UK-wide postal module testing and remote support are available for suitable work after compatibility and scope are agreed. Please contact us before removing or posting a module.
