A LIN header includes information used for synchronisation. A decoder that is configured incorrectly can misread otherwise useful traffic.
How to narrow it down
Preserve the waveform before changing its interpretation settings. Compare the apparent speed with the vehicle information and the header timing. If the same signal decodes differently in two tools, investigate their configuration before ordering a replacement sensor.
What to include with the fault report
Keep the original capture and settings, together with the device that was commanded at the time.
Decoded text is an interpretation of the electrical recording. A repair report should make clear which part was measured and which part was inferred.
Speak to AXION
For CAN-bus and vehicle-network diagnostics, send your vehicle details and fault report. Workshop assessment is in Didcot, Oxfordshire. Suitable postal or remote work is confirmed before booking.
Technical background from NXP. The referenced design explains the principle; the vehicle-specific procedure determines the repair.
