P0556 concerns an implausible brake-booster pressure signal in Ross-Tech’s VAG reference. Its application notes include vacuum-pump, relay, fuse and specific software checks. It should not be reduced to a request for a new pressure sensor without assessing the braking system.
Report braking changes immediately
Tell the workshop if the pedal feels unusually hard, assistance changes or a brake warning appears. Follow the vehicle’s instructions and arrange recovery when braking is uncertain. Do not perform road experiments to see whether assistance returns.
For the diagnostic enquiry, supply the engine code, full scan and battery or repair history. Identify whether the vehicle is a hybrid, because the applicable system and procedure matter.
A missing tool function is not a failed pump
Ross-Tech notes applications where particular output-test functions are unavailable. The workshop may need a different approved test method. It should document what was actually measured rather than treating an unavailable menu option as a component failure.
AXION can review the supported electrical and control aspects with those findings. Any software recommendation must match the exact controller and vehicle. The completed repair should establish correct brake assistance and resolve the underlying concern, with code clearing recorded as only one step.
Arrange an assessment
For complex electrical and network diagnostics, send the vehicle details and fault report to AXION. We support enquiries from drivers and garages. Workshop, postal and remote options depend on the job and are confirmed before booking.
Technical reference
Read the supporting technical documentation. The referenced design or vehicle application defines its scope; it is not a universal repair procedure.
