P2002 and why a DPF warning needs pressure-signal checks

P2002 points to a particulate-filter performance concern. It does not by itself tell you whether the filter, a measurement or another part of the system is responsible. Ross-Tech’s VAG entry includes the exhaust-pressure sensor as well as the filter.

Do not treat every DPF code as the same job

The technician needs to establish which information the ECU uses and whether that information is credible. Keep pressure readings with their units and operating conditions. Record relevant temperature readings, supporting codes and any recent filter or sensor work.

A figure described as soot load may be calculated rather than directly measured. Ask how the proposed repair follows from the full evidence. A single percentage copied from a scanner is not a complete filter assessment.

Before agreeing a regeneration

A regeneration has vehicle-specific prerequisites and should not be attempted simply because a warning lamp is present. The workshop should explain whether the current fault allows that procedure and what needs correcting first. Do not repeatedly attempt driving cycles with serious engine symptoms or other stop warnings.

For an AXION enquiry, send the complete scan and the garage’s pressure-signal findings. We can discuss the electrical side of the diagnosis, including wiring and supported controller work, without assuming that the ECU or DPF needs replacement. Retain the original report before any resets change the recorded history.

Arrange an assessment

For ECU testing and repair, send the vehicle details and fault report to AXION. We support enquiries from drivers and garages. Workshop, postal and remote options depend on the job and are confirmed before booking.

Read the supporting technical documentation. The referenced design or vehicle application defines its scope; it is not a universal repair procedure.
