Returning a Repaired Module to a Different Garage

When one garage removes a unit and another refits it, the diagnostic history can easily become fragmented. A single handover record helps the receiving technician understand the original symptom, completed work and remaining vehicle-side checks.

Send the technical record with the job

Include the vehicle and module identification, original scan, specialist report and agreed installation instructions. State whether coding or other setup has been completed, is required or still needs confirmation. Keep the original component and replacement details distinct.

Avoid relying on a verbal message that the unit is ready to plug in when the written report sets conditions. The receiving garage should document post-installation checks and any new warnings, then contact the specialist with those results if necessary. Obtain the customer’s agreement for sharing relevant job information and exclude unrelated personal data. A clear handover makes it easier to distinguish a repair issue from installation, compatibility or an unresolved fault elsewhere in the vehicle.
