SENT fast data and slow data can describe different sensor information

A sensor can send a fast-changing measurement alongside slower identification or status information on the same signal wire. A trace that looks busy therefore needs decoding before it can support a diagnosis.

Interpreting the evidence

Keep the raw waveform, identify the sensor variant and check which data fields the manufacturer assigns to each measurement. An implausible decoded number may come from the interpretation rather than the sensor. Compare it with a known physical condition, such as an engine stopped reading, before condemning the part.

Keep this evidence

Send the sensor part number, decoder settings and a capture covering the symptom.

A familiar connector does not establish the SENT data layout. The correct vehicle and sensor information is needed to convert counts into meaningful units.
