Some sensor interfaces use a requested transmission rather than a continuous stream. A missing or unsuitable trigger can make a responsive sensor appear inactive during an isolated test.
Interpreting the evidence
Identify whether the fitted device uses SPC and obtain its timing requirements. The assessment should separate the request arriving at the device from the response leaving it. Confirm the bench arrangement supports that interface before deciding that the sensor has failed.
Keep this evidence
Supply the device number, circuit information and a capture showing the request and response together.
Do not apply a trigger from an unrelated sensor or vehicle. This is a specialist signal assessment, not a reason to inject arbitrary pulses into a connected vehicle circuit.
