A hexadecimal value in a communication log may identify an operation such as reading data. It should not automatically be searched as if it were a stored vehicle DTC.
Interpreting the evidence
Keep the message structure and the tool’s interpretation together. Identify whether the value belongs to a request, response, parameter or fault record. This avoids attaching an unrelated repair explanation to a number that simply describes the diagnostic operation.
Keep this evidence
Send the full line from the log with surrounding context.
A bare number is insufficient for a fault explanation. Include the controller and the task underway.
