An injector-circuit fault that returns after a new injector is fitted needs a documented assessment. Replacing the injector may have been appropriate, but the fact that the same code remains is not enough to identify the next failed part. Record exactly what was changed and tested.
Identify the cylinder and code
P0201 refers to the cylinder-one injector circuit, P0202 to cylinder two, P0203 to cylinder three and P0204 to cylinder four. Preserve manufacturer-specific suffixes and the complete diagnostic description.
Manufacturer example Ford/Lincoln 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary. This documents the relevant code family and manufacturer suffixes. Use the procedure for the actual vehicle; Ford test thresholds are not universal.
Cylinder numbering must come from the correct engine information. Avoid assuming that the cylinder nearest one end of the engine is the one named in the scan. If the garage moved components during diagnosis, request a written record of those positions and results.
Keep electrical and fuel-system evidence separate
A useful enquiry includes the circuit test findings as well as the injector history. Ask the diagnosing workshop to state which checks support an injector, harness, connector or controller concern. A code alone cannot tell AXION which repair route has already been established.
Provide the engine code, fuel type and complete scan. Include whether the event occurs at startup, when hot, during acceleration or intermittently, and whether another cylinder or communication fault was recorded at the same time. State whether the vehicle runs normally between events.
After injector or harness work
Send the old and new part numbers, the repair date and any required coding or adaptation report. Explain whether the warning changed, disappeared temporarily or never cleared. If connectors or wiring were repaired, include the workshop’s description without removing protective coverings just to take a photograph.
Injector systems use vehicle-specific drive methods and can involve dangerous fuel pressures. Leave live electrical and fuel-system testing to an equipped technician. Do not apply battery voltage to an injector or controller terminal to see whether it operates.
Before an ECU assessment
If the workshop suspects a controller output, include its supporting evidence and full module label. Keep the original ECU. Use ECU assessment enquiries for an established controller concern or electrical diagnostics if the cause remains uncertain.
AXION Automotive handles specialist electronics enquiries from Didcot and UK garages. Use our assessment checklist, then send the vehicle details and scan report. Vehicle and component support must be confirmed before booking or posting a unit.
