The engine warning lamp is part of the information the driver relies on. If it does not behave as expected and P0650 is stored, save the scan even if the engine appears to run normally. An absent warning is not evidence that there are no other faults.
What the code points towards
HELLA’s DTC list places P0650 in malfunction-indicator control. Read the reference. The way the lamp is controlled must be established from the vehicle information before deciding whether the investigation belongs at the cluster, wiring, network or ECU.
Record the display behaviour
Photograph the instrument panel during the relevant normal start sequence, while safely parked. Say whether the lamp never appears, remains on or behaves intermittently. Identify the symbol rather than referring only to a yellow light.
Include any instrument-cluster replacement, software work, battery incident or aftermarket electrical installation. Preserve scans from both before and after previous repairs when available. Do not suppress or alter the warning to make the dashboard look normal.
A useful handover for garages
State which controller reports P0650 and whether the cluster communicates normally. Keep the exact results of any supported instrument tests, including whether the symptom was present at the time. If a replacement cluster has been fitted, include both original and replacement identities.
