If your electric car charges at work but refuses at home, the successful session is useful evidence. It does not prove every part of the car is healthy, but it gives the investigation a comparison. Record whether both sessions used AC charging; a successful DC session tests a different route.
Make the comparison meaningful
Keep the starting battery percentage, vehicle charge limit, cable used and messages from both the car and charging point. Note whether the failed session never starts or stops after delivering energy. Include any home-charger schedule, tariff control or recent electrical work.
Separate the two assessment routes
The vehicle may need automotive diagnosis; the fixed installation may need its installer or an appropriately qualified electrician. Do not open a wallbox or alter protective settings to force a session. A workshop can use the two reports to decide which investigation should come first.
Before booking, ask whether the assessment can reproduce the relevant AC charging conditions. Bring the cable only if the workshop requests it and it can be transported safely. Preserve the charger event log rather than relying on a photograph of its normal status screen taken later.
