A different starting response in Park and Neutral is useful evidence about recognition and permissions. It does not automatically identify the selector switch or transmission controller as defective.
Record the displayed positions
State whether the dashboard consistently shows the selected gear and whether other gear-related symptoms exist. Include selector, transmission or cable work. Do not bypass the start-inhibit circuit or rely on an improvised workaround.
A technician should assess the relevant inputs and vehicle-specific start conditions. If the vehicle can move unexpectedly or cannot be secured, arrange recovery. Send the scan and exact comparison so diagnosis addresses the difference between the two permitted positions rather than treating the whole complaint as an engine ECU failure.
