Not every electronically controlled device appears as an independent item in a whole-vehicle scan. Some local devices are managed through another controller, and their information may be accessed through that system.
Identify the supervising controller
Ask the technician where the manufacturer’s information places the device and which supported diagnostic functions apply. A missing standalone menu does not prove a broken network. Conversely, a reachable supervising controller does not verify every local device.
Describe the actual failed function and keep related codes. Do not search only for a module name matching the component’s label. The correct system view helps distinguish absent tool coverage, normal architecture and a genuine local communication or supply problem.
