EV charging and on-board charger diagnostics

Charging will not start, stops partway through or works at some chargers but not others. Tell us what the car and charger actually display. AXION accepts enquiries for vehicle charging faults, on-board chargers and associated control systems, with suitability checked against the exact vehicle.

Start with the charging pattern

  • Does the problem happen at home, at public chargers or both?
  • Is it AC charging, DC rapid charging or both, if you already know?
  • Does the connector lock, and what message appears before charging stops?
  • Did the fault begin after battery work, software work, water ingress or a repair?

You do not need to perform extra charging attempts for an enquiry. Photographs of messages already displayed and your existing charging history are useful. Include the full fault report if a garage has scanned the car.

What the assessment covers

The first step is to agree an investigation of the reported vehicle-side fault. A charging message alone does not establish that an on-board charger needs replacing. The proposed work depends on the vehicle information, symptoms and checks already completed.

Our booking list includes EV Charging & On-Board Charger Assessment. See current starting prices and appointment details. Component supply, high-voltage removal and repair work require a separate agreed scope. Home wallbox installation is outside this service.

Before bringing the vehicle

Send the make, model, year and exact warning through the vehicle finder or contact form. Tell us whether the car enters READY and can be moved, so we can discuss arrival arrangements. Visits to our Didcot workshop are by appointment.

Do not open a high-voltage component or disconnect orange cables to obtain a label. High-voltage work needs suitable competence and vehicle-specific precautions, as explained by the HSE.
