DoIP means diagnostic communication over an IP network. For certain newer Mercedes vehicle series, the interface’s DoIP capability matters when planning XENTRY work. Mercedes-Benz identifies pure DoIP applications in its Pass Thru guidance and separately describes access requirements for control-unit commissioning.
Connection and authorisation are separate checks
A laptop reaching the vehicle does not establish that the requested programming function is available to the account in use. Equally, an authorised account cannot make an unsuitable physical interface support a communication method it lacks.
For a garage enquiry, provide the vehicle series, target module, interface model and the exact failed stage. Say whether identification worked and whether any write process actually started. Avoid reducing several different messages to the phrase coding failed.
Remote assistance still needs a prepared vehicle
Someone at the vehicle must be able to follow the agreed instructions and carry out the required local checks. Reliable vehicle power, equipment readiness and a clear recovery plan belong in the preparation discussion.
