Explain whether the hardware has changed
State whether the controller is original, repaired, newly supplied or a used replacement. Include its label and the relevant diagnostic identity. Also explain whether the enquiry concerns an update, reload or installation after replacement.
If a previous garage has already ordered or attempted software, keep its report. It can help distinguish an incomplete operation from a fresh request. Do not buy another unit merely because a software operation failed without first understanding the failure stage.
Agree what the job includes
Ask which controller and function the proposal covers, what prerequisites must be met and what verification follows. A software-related charge should be tied to a specific operation. Diagnosis of a power, communication or internal hardware fault may be a separate part of the assessment.
