A high signal reading can result from the device, an open connection or the input circuit that receives it. The fault wording alone may not identify which part has failed.
How to narrow it down
Use the wiring diagram to establish the expected bias and signal range, then compare readings at the sensor and controller. The response to manufacturer-approved circuit tests is more useful than guessing from one voltage. Check shared supplies and connector condition before considering module repair.
What to include with the fault report
Send the exact code and measured values with the circuit connected and in the relevant operating state.
Do not bridge terminals or substitute arbitrary resistors. The safe test and expected response depend on the input design.
