UDS response 0x33 during authorised module programming

Negative response code 0x33 means security access was denied. It is an access result, not proof that the ECU requires replacement.

What to check next

Check the approved tool, vehicle selection and authorised account or service process. Save the log and establish whether access expired, was never obtained or is unsupported for that operation. The next step should follow the manufacturer’s legitimate access route.

Useful information for an enquiry

Provide the tool’s error text and operation name, but do not send passwords or secret access material.

AXION can assess supported programming enquiries. This does not include bypassing vehicle security or defeating ownership controls.
