A battery monitor can report communication while its readings remain invalid

Receiving a response from a battery-monitor circuit does not establish that every measurement it provides is valid. Diagnostic flags and operating state still matter.

How to narrow it down

Review the status associated with the readings rather than recording only the numerical voltages. Compare the timing of any invalid-data event with the vehicle warning. A communication test alone should not be used to approve a battery monitor or to rule out a sensing fault.

What to include with the fault report

Send the raw diagnostic report with status information, not a manually copied list of voltages.

The vehicle manufacturer’s validity criteria govern interpretation. Do not substitute a plausible-looking number for a failed measurement check.
