A low-voltage entry in one controller and voltage faults across much of the vehicle are different starting points. With VAG 00532, keep the complete description, fault status and all other entries from the same scan.
Read the voltage direction and the pattern
The Ross-Tech reference covers both lower-limit and upper-limit conditions. Low voltage can involve the supply, battery or charging system; an isolated module can point towards a local connection. Several modules recording similar trouble can suggest a shared supply or ground issue. An upper-limit entry needs a different investigation, including the circumstances of charging or external power use. Read the 00532 reference.
A useful timeline for diagnosis
- When did the vehicle last start and operate normally?
- Was there a flat battery, jump start, charger connection or battery replacement?
- Which warning appeared first, and which appeared afterwards?
- Are the faults currently present, or recorded as intermittent/history?
- What battery and charging tests have already been completed?
Share measured results with the test conditions, not simply “the battery is good”. A voltage reading without the operating context cannot explain every intermittent supply problem. Equally, an old stored fault after a known flat battery should not automatically trigger replacement of the controller that recorded it.
Before sending an ECU or BCM
Module assessment is more informative when vehicle-side power and ground findings accompany it. Otherwise a removed unit may behave normally on the bench while the original supply problem remains in the car. Keep the original fault report and agree the next checks before changing several components.
