When one remote function works and another does not, record the exact difference. Test results already obtained with a second authorised key are particularly useful: the same failure with both keys raises different questions from a fault isolated to one key.
Separate remote control from starting
State whether the car starts normally and whether the interior locking switch works. Remote locking and start authorisation should not be treated as one undivided symptom. Include any key battery replacement, physical key damage or recent vehicle battery work.
Avoid unnecessary programming attempts
Do not repeatedly erase or relearn keys using an unverified procedure. Preserve the working key and the vehicle’s original state. The appropriate assessment may concern a button or transmitter, the receiver, configuration or the vehicle’s locking system; the symptom alone does not select one.
