Electrical Problems After a Drink Spill in the Centre Console

A liquid spill can affect switches and connections differently depending on where it travelled. Tell the workshop what was spilled and which controls changed immediately afterwards.

Avoid improvised cleaning

Do not pour solvent into switches, heat the console or repeatedly operate affected controls to dry them. Follow safe shutdown guidance and seek assessment, especially if gear selection or parking controls are involved.

Provide the approximate amount, timing and any prior cleaning attempt. The technician should identify the affected equipment and inspect through the correct procedure. A fault code may name a controller receiving a bad input rather than the component directly exposed to liquid, so the spill path remains important diagnostic evidence.
