A fuel display that does not reflect refuelling should be separated from a genuine engine-running problem. Record the approximate amount added and whether the gauge changes after the normal operating sequence described in the owner’s manual.
Keep the observations practical
Note whether the low-fuel warning and range estimate agree with the gauge. Mention recent tank, pump, sender or instrument work. Do not assume that a working engine proves the level-sensing system is healthy, or that a low gauge proves the fuel pump is failing.
Avoid opening fuel-system components or electrically testing a tank unit without the proper procedure. The workshop should identify the sensing arrangement and compare available data before selecting a part. Provide receipts and repair history if they clarify the timeline, without sharing unnecessary payment details. If fuel leakage or a strong fuel smell is present, stop using the vehicle and arrange appropriate assistance rather than continuing to test the display.
