A warning linked to selecting Park should include whether Park is recognised, whether the vehicle remains secure and whether it can be switched off normally. Follow the handbook’s parking precautions and seek assistance if the vehicle’s restraint is uncertain.
Describe the sequence
Does the warning appear before selection, during the movement or after switching off? Is the displayed position steady or flashing? Include recent selector, battery, transmission or programming work. Do not bypass a shift interlock or force the mechanism to dismiss the message.
Establish the fitted system
The control and mechanical arrangements vary by vehicle. The workshop needs the complete fault description, relevant status information and transmission identity. A Park-related warning does not by itself identify a failed TCU or selector assembly.

Recovery and release procedures must come from the correct vehicle information. The final repair should confirm the relevant recognition and safety functions; clearing a message alone does not demonstrate that parking operation is dependable.
